Roblox is launching two new reward systems starting July 24 to help creators earn more and keep players coming back to the platform.
The new program, called Creator Rewards, is designed to support developers who build engaging experiences and bring users back regularly.
One part of the program is called the Daily Engagement Reward. It gives creators 5 Robux whenever an “active spender” spends at least 10 minutes in their game. An active spender is someone who has spent at least $9.99 on Roblox in the past 60 days. However, the game must be one of the first three the user opens that day to qualify. While 5 Robux may not seem like much, it can add up quickly for popular games with thousands of daily visitors. Roblox also mentioned that this amount could be adjusted in the future.
Roblox says this system is meant to reward creators for bringing users to the platform and keeping them engaged, not just for getting users to play longer. Creators are encouraged to continue building quality experiences rather than optimizing just for the 10-minute rule.
The second part of the program is called the Audience Expansion Reward. This pays creators a share of revenue when users join or return to Roblox because of them. If someone uses a creator’s invite link or searches for their game and plays it for at least 10 minutes, the creator earns 35 percent of the first $100 that player spends in their first two months. This new system will eventually replace the current Creator Affiliate Program.
Roblox says these changes will make its rewards system more transparent and more focused on user acquisition and retention. The company expects to pay out $1 billion to creators this year, up from over $922 million in 2023. That’s nearly triple what Epic Games paid to Fortnite creators last year, showing how serious Roblox is about supporting its developer community.
