Google has started rolling out a new feature for Chrome on Android that lets users move the address bar to the bottom of the screen.
This small change could make a big difference, especially for people using phones with large displays.
While this option has been available on iOS since 2023, Android users are only now getting the same flexibility. According to Google’s Nick Kim Sexton, “Depending on the size of your hand and your device, one address bar position may feel more comfortable than the other.” This update is all about giving users a choice, making it easier to browse in a way that feels natural.
To switch the address bar position, just press and hold on the bar, then choose to move it to the bottom or back to the top. You can also find this option inside Chrome’s settings menu.
For many people, having the address bar at the bottom makes one-handed browsing much easier. If you’ve ever struggled to reach the top of your screen, especially on bigger phones, this new feature could be a welcome change.
