Reddit has announced a new feature designed to give users more control over their privacy.

A new “Content and Activity” setting is being rolled out that lets users choose which posts and comments from various subreddits appear on their public profile.

Until now, all posts and comments were publicly visible on a user’s profile by default. With this update, users can now hide all of their public posts and comments, even those made directly on their profiles. Alternatively, they can choose to show content from specific communities while keeping others private.

This new setting lives under the “Curate your profile” section, where users can also toggle whether or not to show NSFW content and choose to display or hide their follower count.

While this update doesn’t offer complete anonymity — usernames still appear in subreddit threads, and moderators will still be able to view a user’s public post and comment history for up to 28 days — it adds a meaningful layer of profile privacy that wasn’t available before.

Reddit hopes this will make users feel more comfortable participating in discussions on sensitive topics like relationships or health, without worrying that their activity will be visible to everyone.

The feature only allows privacy settings at the community level, not for individual posts or comments, which helps keep things simple but offers less granular control. If someone comments on your profile, you’ll still be able to temporarily view their full public history.

In addition to these privacy updates, Reddit has also introduced personal activity summaries. These give users a quick snapshot of their profile activity, such as Karma score, total contributions, account age, and which communities they’re most active in — all based on their visibility settings.
