If your Pixel phone’s battery has been draining unusually fast lately, Instagram might be the reason.
According to a new support post from Google, a recent Instagram update has been released to fix the issue.
The updated version — Instagram 382.0.0.49.84 — is now available on Google Play. If you don’t see an option to update, you might already have the latest version. To check, long-press the Instagram app, tap “App info,” and scroll to the bottom to see the version number.
Reports of battery drain issues started surfacing after the May software update for Pixel phones. According to 9to5Google, the problem appeared to affect most Pixel models, from the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 9.
Google has not confirmed whether other Android phones were affected, but it seems the problem was closely linked to Instagram running on updated Pixel devices. If you’ve been experiencing battery issues, updating Instagram could be the fix you need.
