Google Voice is finally getting a long-overdue update, bringing a new call interface and support for three-way calling.

Google announced the changes in a Workspace update, saying the in-call screen now has a cleaner design with key call controls placed in a row, similar to what users see in Google Meet.

There’s also a new “Transfer” button and an “Add” button that turns into a “Merge” button when you start a second call.

To start a three-way call, users can tap the Add button during a call, choose a contact, and then merge the calls with a single tap. The new interface also shows a notification when someone is on hold and makes it easy to switch between calls.

This update is rolling out gradually and may take more than 15 days to reach everyone. It’s available to Google Workspace customers who subscribe to Voice Starter, Standard, or Premier plans, as well as those with SIP Link Standard or Premier.

Google says the refreshed design will be available to all Google Voice users eventually, but it’s still unclear if that includes iOS, since the examples shown so far are only for Android.
