Google’s Gemini has crossed a major milestone, with more than 1 billion people now using the AI assistant every month.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the milestone on X, calling Gemini the company’s fastest-growing product ever.
Pichai said more than 1 billion people are now using Gemini each month to spark new ideas and get things done. He also noted that Gemini is the 14th Google product to reach the 1 billion-user mark.

The milestone comes after rapid growth for Gemini throughout 2026. Google reported in February that Gemini had 750 million monthly users. The company later said the number had grown to 950 million by late July, before Gemini crossed the 1 billion mark last week.
Gemini’s growth has been helped by Google’s wide ecosystem, including Android and the increasing integration of Gemini across its products and services. Gemini chief Josh Woodward also said the AI assistant has more than 100 million active users on iOS, highlighting its growing reach beyond Android devices.
Google has continued expanding Gemini’s capabilities as it competes in the increasingly crowded AI market. The company has integrated Gemini into more of its products while improving its AI models and tools for tasks ranging from answering questions and generating ideas to coding and productivity.
Reaching 1 billion monthly users makes Gemini one of the largest AI services in the world and marks another major milestone for Google’s AI push.
