Google is updating its AI Search experience with new features designed to help people find information from sources they already know and trust.

One of the biggest changes is a new preview of perspectives from firsthand sources, including social media, Reddit, and other online forums. In simple terms, Google is trying to connect search queries with real conversations happening across the web.

The company says the update is meant to reflect how people increasingly look to others for advice when searching online. Many users already add “Reddit” to the end of their Google searches to find real experiences from people instead of only SEO-focused web pages. The move also aligns with comments made by Reddit CEO Steve Huffman last year, who said that almost anyone using Google today eventually ends up on Reddit.

By adding these community-driven results directly into AI Search, Google appears to be encouraging more people to use its AI-powered search tools rather than manually digging through traditional search results. Google says it will also add more context to these AI response links, such as the creator’s name, handle, or community name, so users can quickly understand where the information is coming from. These firsthand sources will appear as “Expert Advice” in AI-powered Search results and may guide users to specific forums, communities, or subreddits for deeper discussion.

Google gave an example of someone searching for tips on taking great photos of the northern lights. In that case, AI Search may show quotes from a photography forum about exposure time, along with clickable links that include the community name, allowing users to jump directly into the full conversation.

The company is also adding more website links besides relevant text in AI responses. These links are meant to help users explore related information, even if they are not the exact answer to the original question. For example, someone searching for cycling routes may also see links to blogs about touring guides or training tips.
