Google is celebrating 20 years of Google Translate with a new feature designed to help users improve their speaking skills.
The latest update allows people to practice pronunciation and enunciation directly inside the app.
When users translate a word, phrase, or sentence, they can open the new Practice menu and tap the Pronounce button. This shows phonetic guidance so users can say the translated text out loud and practice speaking more naturally.
The app then listens to the pronunciation, gives it a score, and offers feedback such as “Some sounds were a little unclear.” Users can also hear the correct pronunciation from the app and compare their speech.

At launch, the feature is rolling out in the United States and India. It currently supports English, Spanish, and Hindi, with more languages likely to be added later.
The new tool feels similar to Duolingo, which is known for helping users practice speaking through interactive lessons.
