Google is upgrading Google Home with Gemini 3.1, bringing a smarter and more natural AI experience to its smart home platform.

The update improves how the assistant understands voice commands and handles everyday tasks across connected devices.

With the new version, users can now give multiple commands in a single sentence instead of speaking one instruction at a time. Google says Gemini can better understand more complicated requests and respond more accurately during conversations.

The upgrade also improves calendar and reminder features. Users can create recurring events, manage schedules more naturally, and adjust plans without repeating detailed instructions. Google has also fixed issues related to alarms and time settings, including problems where AM and PM could sometimes be misunderstood.

Google says conversations with Gemini on Home should now feel more fluid, with the assistant able to follow follow-up questions more naturally. Users can continue talking without constantly repeating device names or commands.

Smart home controls are also getting better with the update. Gemini can now identify connected devices more accurately and respond faster when controlling lights, appliances, climate settings, and other smart home features.

Alongside the rollout, Google introduced new experimental features including “Ask Home on Web,” which allows users to control smart home devices and search camera footage directly from a web browser using natural language. The company is also adding improved notifications with quick action controls built directly into alerts.
