Google is introducing a new option in Google Photos that lets users turn off its AI-powered search feature.
A new setting is rolling out that allows people to choose between the traditional “classic” search and the newer AI-based “Ask Photos” mode when searching for images in the app. This change comes after the AI search feature received mixed reactions during its launch, with some users saying the results were not always accurate or helpful.
Shimrit Ben Yair, the lead for Google Photos, said the update comes from user feedback asking for more control over search results. By adding this toggle, Google is giving users the ability to decide whether they want to use the AI-powered experience or return to the classic search they are used to.
The update is designed to make searching in Google Photos more flexible and user-friendly by allowing people to pick the search method that works best for them.
