Fortnite is officially back on the iOS App Store in the United States, marking a major win for Epic Games after a lengthy legal battle with Apple.

The popular battle royale game was removed from the App Store in 2020 when Epic introduced its in-app payment system, violating Apple’s policies. Thanks to a court ruling in Epic Games v. Apple, Apple is no longer allowed to take a cut from purchases made outside the App Store, paving the way for Fortnite’s return.

Epic submitted the app to Apple on May 9th via its Sweden developer account, and despite some initial resistance from Apple, the game is now live. According to a joint filing by both companies, they have “resolved all issues” surrounding Epic’s May 16th legal request, avoiding a court hearing scheduled for next week.

In addition to the App Store, Fortnite is once again accessible through the Epic Games Store and AltStore. The new iOS version includes Epic’s payment system, which offers a 20% Epic Rewards bonus when players purchase V-Bucks using Epic’s processor. This promotion extends to Rocket League and Fall Guys on PC, iOS, Android, and web.

Epic recently launched a Star Wars-themed season on May 2nd, adding more excitement for returning players. The App Store version requires a small initial download, with the full game downloading (approximately 13GB) once opened.
