U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that a buyer has been found for TikTok, the popular short-form video app currently owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance.
Speaking during a Fox News interview, Trump claimed, “We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way,” and hinted that China’s approval might be necessary, referencing Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump didn’t disclose who the buyers are, only saying they are a group of “very wealthy people” and promising to reveal their identities in two weeks.” The vague timeline echoes a familiar pattern in Trump’s public statements, often used to delay or build suspense around announcements.
