Spotify is raising the price of its Premium plans in over 50 countries around the world.

This change affects users in places like Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. However, users in the United States will not see any price changes for now.

The price for an individual Premium plan is going up by about €1 in most countries. In India, the price has increased by as much as 28%, which is the first price hike there in six years. Duo and Family plans are also becoming more expensive.

Even though U.S. users are not affected yet, Spotify is testing a new plan called “Super Premium.” This plan may include high-quality audio and other features, and could cost $5–6 more than the current plan.

Spotify says it needs to raise prices because of higher operating costs and to invest in new features and content. The company made its first full-year profit in 2024 after earlier price increases and cutting staff.

Spotify is also facing pressure from music companies and investors to earn more money from each user. Other music services like Apple Music and Amazon Music have also raised their prices recently.

After the news came out, Spotify’s stock price went up. Investors are happy with the decision, as they believe it will help the company stay strong in the future.

Users who are affected will get an email from Spotify before the new prices are charged. If they don’t agree with the new prices, they can cancel or change their plan anytime.

Spotify now has over 600 million users worldwide and remains the most popular music streaming service. These price changes may help the company grow even more and bring new features to users in the future.
