Google has expanded its AI-powered photo editing feature in Google Photos to India, Australia, and Japan, making advanced edits possible using simple text prompts.

The feature allows users to describe what they want to change in a photo instead of manually adjusting the editing tools.

Known as Help me Edit, the tool appears inside the photo editor and lets users choose suggested prompts or type their own. People can request edits like removing objects from the background, reducing blur, restoring old photos, or even correcting facial expressions, such as closed eyes or glasses in portraits. The AI handles these changes automatically within the app.

The feature runs on Google’s Nano Banana image model and performs edits directly on the device, meaning no internet connection is required during editing. It works on any Android phone with at least 4GB RAM running Android 8 or newer, not just Pixel devices. Google has also added support for Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, and Gujarati.

Alongside the rollout, Google is enabling C2PA Content Credentials in these regions, which label images that were created or edited using AI. This move supports transparency as AI-edited images become more common online. The update is part of Google’s broader push to integrate AI across Photos, following recent launches like AI-powered search, artistic templates, and meme creation tools.
