Google Chrome is finally bringing vertical tabs to users, a feature that has gained popularity through newer browsers like Arc.

Google announced that users can now move their tabs to the side of the browser window, making it easier to read full-page titles and organize multiple tabs more efficiently.

Once turned on, vertical tabs will stay as the default layout unless the user switches back. The option can be enabled by right-clicking anywhere on the Chrome window and selecting “Show Tabs Vertically.” The feature works just like traditional tabs, allowing users to manage multiple windows and tab groups without any major changes to how Chrome functions.

This update is especially useful for people who tend to keep many tabs open, such as researchers or power users. When tabs are stacked vertically, it becomes easier to find specific pages, particularly when many tabs from the same website look similar with identical icons.

Google is also introducing an updated Reading Mode alongside this feature, offering a cleaner, distraction-free way to view content. The new version expands into a full-page experience, helping users focus on text by removing clutter from the screen.
