Google is introducing a new Chrome feature that makes it easier to reuse Gemini prompts without typing them again and again.
Called Skills, the new tool lets users save their favorite AI commands and run them across multiple webpages with a single click inside the Chrome desktop browser.
The idea is simple. Instead of re-entering the same prompt every time you open a new page, Chrome now allows you to save that prompt and use it whenever needed. Google says this is especially useful for repeated tasks, like asking Gemini to suggest vegan ingredient swaps for recipes as you browse different cooking sites.
According to Chrome product manager Hafsah Ismail, the feature is meant to remove the hassle of repeating AI tasks on every page. Once available, users can manage Skills by typing a forward slash in Gemini and selecting the compass icon. Prompts can also be saved directly from Gemini chat history on desktop, and those saved Skills will sync across other desktop devices signed into the same Google account on Chrome.
Google says the feature is rolling out starting today for Chrome users whose language is set to US English. The company hopes it will save users from copying prompts from notes or retyping them every time they want Gemini to perform a familiar task. Early testers have already used Skills for things like calculating nutrition details from online recipes and comparing product specs side by side while shopping across several tabs.
Alongside custom Skills, Google is also launching a built-in library of preset options that users can save and use right away. These can be edited as needed, giving people a ready-made starting point without having to create every Skill from scratch.
