Apple has brought back the blood oxygen monitoring feature to the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2 in the United States.
The feature was removed earlier this year because of a patent dispute, which led to an import ban on certain models.
With the new update to watchOS 11.6.1 and iOS 18.6.1, Apple has redesigned how the feature works. Instead of the watch doing the calculation, the blood oxygen data is now processed on the paired iPhone. Users can still see their results in the Health app under the “Respiratory” section.
This change allows Apple to bring back the feature while following the legal rules.
The company is still working to resolve the dispute in court, but for now, this update means users can continue tracking their blood oxygen levels—just in a slightly different way.
