Apple may put privacy at the center of its next big Siri upgrade when it introduces the new version at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The upcoming Siri relaunch is being seen as Apple’s major opportunity to prove it still matters in the fast-moving artificial intelligence race. As part of that push, Apple executives are expected to highlight a more privacy-focused approach compared to many other AI companies.

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its first standalone Siri app, powered by Google Gemini, giving users a chatbot-style experience similar to ChatGPT. However, unlike some rival AI chatbots, the new Siri app may place tighter limits on how long user information can be stored and used.

Gurman said Siri could include a feature similar to Apple’s Messages app, where users can choose to automatically delete conversations after 30 days or one year, or keep them permanently.

He also suggested that Apple may be leaning heavily on privacy to explain some of Siri’s limitations compared to competing AI products. At the same time, that privacy message could draw attention away from the fact that Google is reportedly handling part of the system’s security.
