Apple is reportedly testing a major upgrade for Siri that could be powered by Google’s Gemini AI model, according to reports from Bloomberg and TechCrunch.

The project, internally called “World Knowledge Answers,” aims to give Siri smarter web search and summarization features.

The possible deal would allow Apple to use a custom version of Gemini within Siri, and even expand its capabilities to apps like Safari and Spotlight Search. This could make Siri more competitive with other AI assistants by delivering mixed results such as text, images, videos, and personalized voice summaries.

For years, Siri has faced criticism for lagging behind rivals like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. By adopting Gemini, Apple could finally close the gap in AI-driven voice search and virtual assistance.

Apple has not made a final decision yet, but if the deal goes forward, the upgraded Siri could be part of a major rollout expected in 2026, possibly alongside iOS 26.
