Apple’s upcoming iOS 19 update could include an AI-powered battery management feature to optimize power consumption, according to a Bloomberg report.
The smart tool would analyze users’ device habits and dynamically adjust energy usage across apps and features to extend battery life.
The new system is expected to use machine learning techniques, leveraging battery data collected from iPhones to identify usage patterns and predict when to scale back power draw. This approach mirrors Google’s Adaptive Battery feature, introduced in Android in 2018, which limits background activity based on app usage trends.
iOS 19 will reportedly also include a lock screen indicator that displays how long it will take for the iPhone to fully charge. While the AI battery tool is being introduced alongside the rumored ultra-thin iPhone 17, expected to have a smaller battery, it will be available on all compatible iPhones running iOS 19.
Apple is anticipated to unveil iOS 19 during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, with a public release likely in September.
