Zoom has officially released a standalone app for Meta Quest headsets, allowing users to join or host meetings in virtual reality using their Meta Avatars.

Unlike the earlier 2023 version that required access through Meta’s Horizon Workrooms and a paid Zoom subscription, the new app works with any free or paid Zoom account. It’s available on Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest Pro, and Quest 2 headsets.

The app enables users to see other meeting participants across Zoom’s desktop, mobile, or web apps, bringing a mixed-reality experience to virtual meetings. For supported devices, it also offers passthrough mode, letting users view their real-world surroundings during meetings.

Zoom has been leaning into its AI and avatar integration strategy, including support for Apple’s Vision Pro and its own AI-generated meeting avatars to represent users or deliver short messages in meetings.
