YouTube is experimenting with AI-powered hosts in its Music app, offering a new way to enhance radio and mixes.

The feature is part of the company’s new YouTube Labs program, which focuses on AI-driven experiments.

According to YouTube, the AI hosts are designed to “deepen your listening experience by sharing relevant stories, fan trivia, and fun commentary about your favorite music.” The test is currently available only to a limited number of US-based participants, and users can check YouTube’s Labs website to see if they qualify.

This move builds on Google’s growing use of AI in consumer products. The company recently expanded NotebookLM, its AI-powered study assistant, and is now applying similar concepts to music streaming. YouTube Labs mirrors Google’s broader Labs initiative, where users can test early AI prototypes.

In addition to the Labs program, YouTube announced that some Premium-exclusive features are reaching more devices. Notably, the AI-powered “jump ahead” tool, which automatically skips to the most interesting part of a video, is now fully available on YouTube for TVs and game consoles. The feature had been in limited testing earlier this year but is now rolling out widely.
