YouTube is introducing a new feature called Lens to its Shorts videos.
This tool will be available in a test version soon and will help you learn more about animals, plants, or objects you see in a video.
For instance, if you are watching a Short Video and notice a famous building in the background, you can use Lens to find out what it is and where the video was likely filmed.
To use this feature, open the YouTube app on your phone and play a Short. Pause the video, tap the Lens button at the top of the screen, then tap, highlight, or circle the thing you want to know more about.
YouTube will display similar images and useful information directly on the screen while the video is still playing. If you click on one of the results, you can quickly return to watching the video afterward.

Google has been making Lens more powerful lately. It now allows you to search using video and can even help you decide what to buy when you are in a store.

YouTube also mentioned that Lens does not use facial recognition to identify people. Still, it might show information about well-known public figures. During the test period, there will be no ads in the search results. The feature also will not work with Shorts that contain shopping links for now.
