After Elon Musk’s bold rebranding of Twitter to X, most things have changed — the logo, the website, the app name, and even the URL. Visiting twitter.com now redirects to x.com, marking a clear shift in branding.
But one thing hasn’t caught up: embedded tweets.
If you try to embed a post, the tool still lives at publish.twitter.com, and the embed code still references “twitter.com” instead of “x.com” or “x.twitter.com.”

Why the delay? Likely technical and compatibility reasons. Millions of websites rely on Twitter’s existing embed structure, and changing it too quickly could break content across the web.
For now, X may have a new name and face, but under the hood, it’s still a bit Twitter.
