OpenAI is reportedly preparing one of the biggest changes to ChatGPT so far, as the company works to turn the platform into a broader “superapp” with coding tools, AI agents, and partner services built directly into the experience.
According to a Financial Times report, the planned overhaul is part of a wider internal reorganisation at OpenAI. The company is said to be focusing more strongly on high-value business customers while facing growing competition from rival AI company Anthropic.
The report, which cited more than a dozen current and former employees, said OpenAI plans to give more visibility to Codex, its AI coding product. The changes are expected to begin rolling out in the coming weeks across ChatGPT’s website and mobile apps.
As part of the redesign, ChatGPT’s interface will reportedly be updated to guide users more clearly toward specific tools, including coding features, image generation, and integrated partner services. The report mentioned platforms such as Canva and Booking.com as examples of services that could become more visible inside ChatGPT.
The Financial Times also reported that most Codex users are paid subscribers. Around 2 million business customers currently account for nearly 40 percent of OpenAI’s revenue, and that share is expected to rise to about 50 percent by the end of the year.
ChatGPT now has more than 900 million weekly active users, based on figures previously shared by OpenAI. Its paid consumer subscriber base has also crossed 50 million users.

The reported redesign comes as OpenAI continues to expand its commercial business. A previous report in May said the company was preparing a confidential filing for a possible U.S. initial public offering, although CEO Sam Altman has said the timing of any listing will depend on broader strategic factors.
