Mozilla has announced that it will shut down Pocket, the popular tool that lets you save articles and web pages to read later.
The service will officially stop working on July 8, 2025.
After that date, users will no longer be able to use Pocket. However, Mozilla will give people until October 8, 2025, to export their saved items. After that, all user data will be permanently deleted.
Mozilla has already removed the Pocket app and web extension as of May 22, 2025, but if you already have the app, you can still re-download it until October 8.
Pocket started back in 2007 under the name Read It Later and became popular for helping people save articles, recipes, and videos to view later. Mozilla added Pocket to Firefox in 2015 and bought the company in 2017.
Mozilla says it’s shutting down Pocket because people now save and read content in different ways. Its email newsletter, Pocket Hits, will continue under a new name, “Ten Tabs,” but it will no longer send emails on weekends.

If you have a paid Pocket subscription, it will be automatically canceled on July 8, and Mozilla will give partial refunds to users who paid for a full year.
