Microsoft is testing a new policy that gives IT administrators the option to uninstall the AI-powered Copilot assistant from managed Windows 11 devices.

The feature is currently rolling out to systems enrolled in the Dev and Beta Windows Insider channels, running the latest preview build.

The policy, called RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp, allows admins to remove Copilot using Microsoft Intune or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). It applies only to devices where Copilot was not installed by the user and hasn’t been opened in the last 28 days. Microsoft says users will still be able to reinstall Copilot later if they choose.

The new option is available on Enterprise, Pro, and EDU editions of Windows 11. In the same beta build, Microsoft has also fixed issues causing File Explorer crashes and Windows Update settings to hang, while continuing to work on known bugs affecting the Start menu and the Settings app.
