Microsoft is introducing a built-in network speed test feature to Windows 11, making it easier for users to quickly check their internet connection without visiting third-party websites.
The new tool is currently rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders through the Release Preview Channel as part of an upcoming system update.
Once available, users can right-click the network icon in the taskbar’s system tray and select the speed test option. This opens a page in the default web browser where users can instantly see their internet speed across Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular connections. Microsoft has been quietly testing this feature since last year, and its inclusion in the taskbar aims to offer a faster, more convenient experience.
The same update also brings several additional improvements to Windows 11. Microsoft is adding new camera controls that allow users to adjust pan and tilt settings for supported webcams, although the company has not yet shared a full list of compatible devices. Alongside this, users will see new emoji options, a redesigned full-page Widgets settings screen, and support for setting .webp images as desktop wallpapers.
