Apple is bringing Mac mini production to the United States for the first time.

The company announced it will begin making the popular desktop computer at its expanded factory in Houston later this year. The move is expected to create thousands of new jobs and strengthen Apple’s manufacturing presence in America.

The Mac mini has been a favorite for more than 20 years because it offers strong performance in a small size. It is widely used by students, creative professionals, and small business owners. With new AI features, it has become even more powerful. Apple’s new factory in Houston will produce the Mac mini and double the size of the company’s campus there.

Apple is also building advanced AI servers in Houston. These servers are used in Apple data centers across the United States. Production of these servers started in 2025 and is already ahead of schedule. Important parts, including logic boards, are made directly at the Houston facility.

Later this year, Apple will open a new 20,000 square foot Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston. The center will provide hands-on training to students, supplier employees, and American businesses. Apple experts will teach modern manufacturing techniques used to build Apple products.

This expansion is part of Apple’s $600 billion investment in the United States. The company has already sourced more than 20 billion chips made in America from factories across 12 states. It works with major partners like TSMC, Broadcom, and Texas Instruments.

Several other projects are also moving forward. A new silicon wafer facility in Texas has started production. A major semiconductor packaging plant is being built in Arizona. In Kentucky, a Corning factory now makes cover glass for iPhone and Apple Watch devices sold worldwide. By the end of this year, all new iPhones and Apple Watches will use glass made in Kentucky.

Apple also expects to buy more than 100 million advanced chips from TSMC’s Arizona factory in 2026. Meanwhile, Apple Manufacturing Academy in Detroit is helping small and medium-sized businesses learn about AI, automation, and smart manufacturing, with both in-person and online programs available.
