LinkedIn is taking stronger steps to combat hiring scams by making mandatory workplace verification a requirement for users with certain job titles.
From now on, anyone adding or updating roles such as Recruiter, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Executive Director, or Vice President will need to verify their position through their employer.
The verification process is free and typically involves confirming a company email address. LinkedIn says this change will help job seekers easily identify genuine recruiters and executives, reducing impersonation risks on the platform.
In addition, LinkedIn is expanding company page verification. Previously available only on request, the option is now open to all organizations that subscribe to Premium Company Pages, giving businesses more ways to prove authenticity.
Since introducing verification features in 2023, LinkedIn reports that more than 80 million users have verified their identity, workplace, or education details. Earlier this year, LinkedIn also rolled out external verification support, allowing users to display their LinkedIn-verified badge on platforms like Adobe’s Behance.
