Image-sharing platform Imgur has shut off access to users in the UK after a warning from the country’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) over potential data law violations.

Starting September 30, 2025, UK users can no longer log in, upload, or view content on Imgur. Attempts to visit the site now display a message reading, “Content not available in your region.” The block also prevents UK users from seeing Imgur-hosted content embedded on third-party websites such as Reddit.

The ICO recently notified Imgur’s parent company, MediaLab, of its intention to impose a fine related to concerns over children’s data and age verification practices. The investigation, launched in March alongside reviews of TikTok and Reddit, remains ongoing.

The ICO emphasized that Imgur’s exit from the UK does not exempt it from accountability for any prior violations of data protection law. Imgur has not yet commented on the move.
