Until recently, changing that Gmail address usually meant creating another Google Account and starting the migration process all over again.
Google is now making that much easier for eligible users. You can change your existing @gmail.com address to another available Gmail address while keeping the same Google Account and the data stored inside it.
What Does Changing Your Gmail Username Actually Mean?
Your Gmail username is the part of your email address before @gmail.com.

What Happens to Your Old Gmail Address?

There are limits.

A new @gmail.com address can be created only once every 12 months, and Google limits the total number of new Gmail addresses that can be created through the process.

What If Your New Gmail Username Is Already Taken?

Check Your Chromebook or Other Google Devices
If you use a Chromebook or services such as Chrome Remote Desktop, review Google’s guidance before changing the account email.
What If You Only Want to Change Your Gmail Name?
If your goal is simply to change the name people see when you send emails, you don’t need to change your Gmail username.
On Gmail for desktop, go to:
Settings → See all settings → Accounts and Import → Send mail as → Edit info
From there, you can change the name displayed to recipients while keeping the same Gmail address.

Why Can’t I See the Gmail Username Change Option?
