Google has quietly stepped into the growing world of AI-powered dictation tools with a new iOS app called Google AI Edge Eloquent.

Designed to compete with apps like Wispr Flow, SuperWhisper, and Willow, this new tool focuses on delivering a smoother, smarter speech-to-text experience, especially for users who want clean, ready-to-use writing straight from their voice.

The app is free to download, and once users install its built-in Gemma-based speech recognition models, it works even without an internet connection. As you speak, the app shows live transcription on screen, but what makes it stand out is what happens after you pause. Instead of leaving in filler words or messy phrasing, it automatically removes things like “um” and “ah” and refines the text into something more polished and natural.

Users can also tweak the tone and structure of their text with options like key points, formal, short, or long, making it useful for everything from quick notes to more structured writing. For those who want full privacy, the app can run entirely on-device with cloud features turned off. If cloud mode is enabled, it taps into Google’s Gemini models to further enhance the final output.

For now, the app is only available on iOS, but hints in the App Store listing suggest an Android version is on the way. That version could offer deeper system integration, including setting it as a default keyboard and using a floating button for quick access anywhere on the device.
