Discord is now making end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls available to every user, giving people more privacy when they talk on the platform.

With this update, Discord says voice and video calls are encrypted by default, meaning no one outside the call can listen in, not even Discord itself. The feature does not require users to turn anything on manually, as it is now standard for voice and video calls across the platform.

Discord first introduced its end-to-end encrypted calling system in 2024 and has been slowly expanding it across desktop, mobile, web browsers, consoles, bots, apps, and its Social SDK. The company says the migration was completed in early March 2026, and the protection now applies to calls in DMs, group DMs, voice channels, and Go Live streams.

There is one major exception: Stage channels are not covered by end-to-end encryption because they are designed for larger broadcasts such as live events, AMAs, and community town halls. Discord also said it has no current plans to bring end-to-end encryption to text messages because many of its existing text features were built around a different system.
