Discord is developing a native Windows on Arm version of its popular communication app, aiming to improve performance on Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus PCs.
The company has released an early development preview build for testers, but a full public release timeline remains unclear.
A Discord spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that the app is still in the early stages of development. Currently, users can install the regular Discord app on Arm-based devices, but performance is often sluggish due to emulation, with frequent freezes and slow loading of chat history.
However, early testing of the Arm64-compiled version shows promising results. Users report a smooth, lag-free experience—comparable to using Discord on traditional Intel-powered systems.
Once officially released, Discord will join over 700 apps that are already supported on Windows on Arm. Around 42% of these apps are now natively compiled for Arm64, helping power-hungry apps like Discord, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro run more efficiently on the new wave of Arm-based Windows laptops.
