Chainalysis has begun restoring access to its Know Your Transaction (KYT) monitoring service and Address Screening products through a phased rollout, more than a day after taking the tools offline during a security incident.
The company said on November 6 that additional customers should regain access over the next several hours as it validates each stage of the restoration.
The company’s latest security incident update, posted at 3:30 a.m. EST, said access would expand as each phase passed its checks. Customers must first submit trusted IP addresses for allowlisting. Once access is granted, all users will be required to reset their passwords and rotate API keys where applicable before registering transactions.
The phased return follows Chainalysis’s disclosure that names, usernames, password hashes and live tokens for all platform users were exposed to a malicious actor. The company said it was directly notifying customers whose KYT accounts appeared to have been accessed without authorization. It has continued to report no evidence that investigation data was accessed or that its blockchain attribution data was manipulated, as detailed in Abijita’s earlier report on the expanded data exposure.
Chainalysis said it is still working with outside security experts to harden its systems and restore Reactor and Data Solutions. Those products were taken offline earlier in the response, as covered in Abijita’s report on the initial service shutdown, and the company has not provided a restoration timetable for them.
The company’s status page still marked KYT API, KYT UI, Address Screening, Reactor and several other services as under maintenance in its 9:44 a.m. UTC update on November 6, showing that the wider restoration remained in progress.
