The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged Ukrainian national Volodymyr Viktorovich Tymoshchuk for his role as an administrator of the LockerGoga, MegaCortex, and Nefilim ransomware operations.

Also known online as deadforz, Boba, msfv, and farnetwork, Tymoshchuk allegedly helped carry out attacks that breached over 250 companies worldwide, causing millions in damages.

Between 2019 and 2021, Tymoshchuk managed ransomware operations, recruited affiliates, and took a cut of ransom payments. He also provided access to co-defendant Artem Aleksandrovych Stryzhak, who was extradited from Spain earlier this year. Investigators have further linked him to other ransomware groups, including JSWORM, Karma, Nokoyawa, and Nemty.

According to prosecutors, Tymoshchuk’s attacks disrupted the operations of major U.S. companies, health care providers, and international industrial firms. Victims were often threatened with data leaks if ransom demands were not met.

Tymoshchuk now faces multiple charges, including computer fraud, damaging protected computers, unauthorized access, and extortion.

The U.S. State Department is offering a reward of up to $11 million for information leading to his arrest or conviction.
