Twitter is threatening to sue Meta over its new Threads app.
The company alleges that Meta used Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property to build Threads, and that it hired dozens of former Twitter employees to develop the app.
Twitter’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, argues that Meta’s actions are “in violation of both state and federal law.” He says that Twitter is demanding that Meta stop using any of its trade secrets or confidential information and that it is also seeking “both civil remedies and injunctive relief.”
Meta has denied the allegations, saying that no one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee. However, Twitter has a history of threatening legal action against its competitors. In May, it accused Microsoft of abusing the company’s API through integrations with some of its products.
