Rockstar Games has officially released its long-awaited extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, giving fans nearly 27 minutes of new footage from the highly anticipated game.
The video is now available on YouTube and Rockstar’s website, following the studio’s earlier promise to release the in-depth preview.
The extended look initially premiered on Netflix at 3PM ET, although some fans were able to see parts of it earlier through reaction videos. Rockstar had permitted creators to publish their reactions, meaning viewers could technically encounter the footage on YouTube before the official Rockstar upload.
The preview focuses heavily on the atmosphere and world of GTA VI, along with its two main protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Rather than providing a detailed breakdown of the game’s mechanics, Rockstar spends much of the video showcasing the locations, characters and overall cinematic feel of the game.
Much of the footage looks more like scenes from a movie than a traditional video game trailer, highlighting the visual detail and presentation Rockstar is aiming for with its next major open-world release.
There are still several glimpses of gameplay throughout the video. The footage includes playable shootouts, police car chases and everyday activities such as playing basketball and scuba diving. Other previews provided to outlets by Rockstar have revealed additional gameplay details that are not shown in the extended video.
Rockstar says the entire extended look was captured from the PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto VI, giving fans another look at how the game is shaping up on current-generation hardware.
