Apple CEO Tim Cook has rejected rumours that he may be preparing to step down, saying he has no plans to leave the company anytime soon.
In an interview with ABC News, Cook made it clear that the reports were false. He said he never made any statement about slowing down or stepping back from his role and called the speculation nothing more than a rumour.
Cook also spoke about his long relationship with Apple, where he has worked for nearly 30 years. He said he still feels deeply connected to the company and enjoys his work so much that he cannot imagine a life without Apple.
His comments come as Apple celebrates its 50th anniversary. Looking back on the company’s journey, Cook highlighted how Apple has changed several industries over the years, including music, smartphones, creative technology, and health products like the Apple Watch.
He also shared Apple’s future business plans, saying the company will invest 600 billion dollars in the United States over the next four years. According to Cook, the investment will help increase local manufacturing of important parts such as iPhone glass and semiconductors, which will support Apple’s supply chain around the world.
Speaking on trade issues, Cook said Apple is keeping a close watch on the possibility of tariff refunds after a recent US Supreme Court ruling found some tariffs to be illegal. He said the company will decide what to do once the legal process becomes clearer.
Cook also addressed criticism about his communication with political leaders. He explained that his goal is to focus on policy issues, not politics, and said staying in touch with decision-makers is necessary when dealing with important business matters.
On artificial intelligence, Cook described AI as a neutral tool that can be used in both positive and negative ways, depending on the person using it. He said Apple’s strategy is centered on privacy, with more data being processed directly on devices and more advanced tasks handled through its Private Cloud Compute system.
As Apple prepares to complete 50 years, Cook reflected on the company’s beginning with an emotional message. He said Apple started in a small garage with a big idea and a simple belief that technology should feel personal, a vision that went on to change the world.
