TikTok is expanding its efforts to promote healthier screen time habits among teens by introducing a default “wind-down” feature with guided meditation for users under 18.
Starting soon, teens scrolling after 10 PM will see a calming prompt featuring meditation exercises aimed at helping them disconnect and relax.
Initially, the wind-down feature only played soothing music and was limited to users under 16. However, based on testing that showed 98% of under-16 users kept the feature on after trying it, TikTok is now rolling it out more widely.
The updated prompts will appear to all teens after 10 PM, and adults can also opt in by enabling “Sleep Hours” in the Screen Time settings.

Teens can dismiss the first reminder, but the app will later display a more persistent full-screen prompt that’s harder to skip. The move comes as part of TikTok’s broader initiative to address digital wellbeing concerns, especially with its U.S. operations under scrutiny and facing a potential ban if it doesn’t divest by June 19th.
In March, TikTok also introduced a Time Away tool that allows parents and caregivers to schedule screen breaks for their children. These new updates signal TikTok’s continued push to enhance safety and support mindful usage, even amid mounting regulatory pressure.
