Threads, Meta’s fast-growing rival to X, is rolling out more new features designed to give users greater control over their conversations.

Following the recent launch of communities and disappearing “ghost posts,” the app has now introduced tools that make managing interactions easier and more personal.

One of the biggest additions is the reply approvals feature. This allows users to review and approve replies before they appear under their posts, giving them full control over what others see. While Threads already lets you restrict replies to people you follow, your followers, or those you mention, this new option means you can keep replies open to everyone without worrying about unwanted or off-topic comments. Meta says the goal is to help users “set the tone of the conversation” and create a space that feels more positive and in control.

The update also adds new Activity feed filters, letting you easily view replies from people you follow or see only those that include mentions. These join existing filter options like Verified, Quotes, and Reposts, making it simpler to navigate your notifications and engage with meaningful interactions.

Meta shared during its third-quarter earnings call that Threads has reached 150 million daily active users, up from over 100 million in December 2024. The platform now has more than 400 million monthly active users, showing its steady growth. As the user base expands, Meta is also moving quickly to monetize Threads by rolling out global ads and preparing to launch video ads soon.

Threads is continuing to evolve with more personalized features as well. Instagram head Adam Mosseri recently revealed that the app is testing new controls that let users adjust their algorithm by adding or removing topics based on their interests, giving them a more tailored feed experience.
