Spotify Premium subscribers can once again mix and stream music directly through Algoriddim’s djay software on Mac and Windows.
The long-awaited return comes after Spotify ended support for third-party DJ apps back in 2020, citing licensing restrictions.
The revival means DJs can now log in with their Spotify Premium account, stream playlists, and queue up requests without leaving the desktop app. At the moment, however, integration is limited to desktop versions of djay — neither Spotify nor Algoriddim has confirmed whether the feature will expand to mobile.
The history here is complicated. In 2020, Spotify’s Terms of Service explicitly banned mixing its catalog, leaving many DJs scrambling for alternatives. Since then, Algoriddim has added integrations with Tidal, SoundCloud, and Apple Music, giving professionals other streaming options.
Now, Spotify is back in the mix. Even free djay users can access Spotify integration, while Pro subscribers get extras like hardware compatibility, effects, and advanced tools designed for more serious performances.
For DJs who relied on Spotify in the past, this update could signal a welcome return — though some may have already settled into new ecosystems.
