Samsung is expanding its Galaxy AI platform by adding Perplexity as a new built-in assistant option. Starting with the upcoming Galaxy S26, users will be able to activate Perplexity by saying “hey, Plex,” alongside existing options like Bixby and Gemini.

This move is part of Samsung’s bigger plan to build what it calls a multi-agent ecosystem. The idea is simple: different AI tools are good at different things, and people often prefer one assistant over another. Instead of forcing users to rely on a single AI, Samsung wants to let them choose which one plays a central role on their phone.

The Perplexity integration goes deeper than just offering quick answers. It will have access to core Samsung apps such as Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. It will also connect with select third-party apps, though Samsung has not yet shared which ones will be supported.

Samsung believes AI will become a primary way people interact with their smartphones. At the same time, the company understands that users can form strong preferences for specific AI assistants. By allowing more flexibility and deeper integration, Samsung hopes to stand out from competitors like Apple and Google.

More details about Galaxy AI and Samsung’s long-term vision for a multi-agent future are expected at the company’s upcoming Unpacked event on the 25th.
