Reddit is rolling out new features to help publishers connect with readers directly inside its app.

Announced on September 10, these updates aim to give media outlets better visibility into how their content is shared on Reddit while making it easier for users to read and engage with stories.

One of the biggest changes for readers is a new in-app article viewing experience. Instead of being redirected to an external browser, Reddit users can now open articles directly inside the app, with Reddit comments pinned to the bottom of the page. This allows readers to scroll through a story while engaging with community discussions at the same time. According to Reddit spokesperson Courtney Geesey-Dorr, the feature respects publisher paywalls, so some content may remain locked, while others may opt to provide special access through gift links or softened paywalls.

On the publisher side, Reddit is offering a suite of analytics and automation tools. Media outlets will gain insights into which subreddits are sharing their stories, track engagement metrics like upvotes and clicks, and even get AI-powered recommendations on the best subreddits to share their content. Publishers can also sync their RSS feeds for automatic content import and distribution across subreddits.

These tools are part of Reddit Pro, a business platform launched last year. While the new features have been in early testing with select outlets, Reddit has now opened applications for its beta program to more publishers.
