Prime Video is making it easier for customers in the United States to catch up on the latest news without having to watch full-length programs or tune in to live coverage.
The streaming service already offers a dedicated news section that is available to all U.S. customers, whether they have an Amazon Prime membership or not. It provides access to local, national, and international news from major providers including ABC News Live, CBS News 24/7, LiveNOW from Fox, CNN Headlines, NBC News NOW, and hundreds of other free ad-supported streaming channels.
Customers can also get more news content through paid third-party subscriptions such as Peacock Premium Plus, Paramount+, FOX One, and CNN All Access.
Now, Prime Video is adding a new News Clips feature that brings together short, on-demand video clips covering major national and local stories. Instead of searching through individual news channels or watching an entire program, viewers can quickly browse multiple clips from different trusted news sources and get up to speed on important topics in just a few minutes.
The News Clips feature is currently available through the dedicated news section of the Prime Video app on living room devices, while support for mobile and web is expected to arrive soon. Customers can find the clips by scrolling to the Trending Topics or Local News sections within the news destination.
Prime Video says the new feature is designed for people who may not be able to watch breaking news as it happens. The company is combining these short clips with its existing selection of free, 24/7 live news channels to give customers more flexible ways to stay informed.
