OpenClaw, the free and open-source AI agent platform that gained widespread attention earlier this year, is now officially available on both Android and iPhone.
The announcement was made on X, marking the first time users can access and control their OpenClaw AI agents directly from a mobile device. The app works by connecting to the OpenClaw Gateway, a routing system that links user requests with AI agents and the tools they need to complete tasks.
With the new mobile app, users can run their AI agents from anywhere, making it easier to automate everyday tasks while on the go. Depending on how the agents are configured, they can assist with activities such as coding, meal planning, research, and other productivity tasks. However, some users have reported that results can vary with task complexity and agent setup.
OpenClaw first became popular during the launch of MoltBook, a social media platform that was presented as being populated entirely by AI agents. The project attracted significant online attention and helped introduce OpenClaw to a wider audience.
Later, researchers revealed that parts of the MoltBook experiment involved humans pretending to be AI agents, turning the project into as much a marketing campaign as a technology demonstration. Despite the controversy, the event highlighted the growing interest in AI agents and the role they could play in everyday digital life.
The creator of OpenClaw, Peter Steinberger, also announced earlier this year that he had joined OpenAI. Since then, AI agents have continued to expand across the technology industry, with mobile devices becoming one of the latest platforms to bring these automated assistants closer to everyday users.
