OpenAI will soon start showing ads to users of the free and Go versions of ChatGPT in the United States.
The rollout is expected in the coming weeks.
The plan was first reported by The Information. As part of this move, OpenAI has partnered with Criteo, an advertising technology company. Criteo provides tools that help advertisers buy ads and target users more effectively. Earlier this month, Criteo confirmed it is already working with OpenAI on an advertising pilot for ChatGPT in the U.S.
According to The Information, Criteo has been encouraging advertisers to spend between $50,000 and $100,000 on campaigns. OpenAI has also suggested that advertisers use multiple versions of ad text and visuals, as this can help increase how often ads appear and improve their results.
