OpenAI has started teasing what looks like the launch of its long-rumored web browser.

A post on the company’s official X account today showed a short teaser with a set of browser tabs, hinting that all will be revealed during a livestream scheduled for 1 PM ET (10 AM PT).

CEO Sam Altman confirmed that the announcement will introduce “a new product I’m quite excited about.” The livestream link revealed the product’s name — ChatGPT Atlas — which will be available globally on macOS starting today, with Windows, iOS, and Android versions expected soon.

Reports from Reuters earlier this year suggested that OpenAI was working on an AI-powered browser featuring its Operator AI agent, designed to handle real-world web tasks like booking restaurant reservations, filling out online forms, and performing other browsing actions automatically.

ChatGPT Atlas is also expected to include a built-in ChatGPT interface, allowing users to chat directly with the AI without needing to open a separate website. Early hints suggest the browser will be based on Chromium, the same open-source engine that powers Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Opera.
