Google has announced a series of exciting updates for its Google Fi Wireless plans, introducing smarter features, improved call quality, and better connectivity for users across the United States.
One of the biggest updates is the new web calls and messaging interface, which now fully supports RCS messaging. This means users can send and receive high-quality photos and videos in their message threads, even when their phone is not nearby. The update will roll out in early December and will be available at no extra cost.
Google is also improving call quality with the help of its AI technology. Starting in mid-November, Google Fi will use artificial intelligence to reduce background noise and enhance voices during calls, making conversations clearer even in noisy environments. This improvement works on both ends of a call, whether someone is using a smartphone, a landline, or an older device. The noise filters will turn on automatically, but users can choose to disable the feature if they prefer.
Another useful improvement is the expansion of the Wi-Fi Auto Connect Plus feature. This allows phones to automatically connect to trusted, secure Wi-Fi networks to provide stronger connections in areas with weak mobile signals, such as airports, malls, and stores. Google says the feature will now be available in tens of millions of locations across the country, including major airports like LAX, ORD, and JFK. It also uses a built-in VPN to keep data private and secure. However, this feature is currently limited to Pixel 5a and newer models.
To make things easier for customers, Google Fi’s mobile app is getting smarter with the help of Google AI. The app will soon generate clear billing summaries that explain monthly charges, plan changes, and how any adjustments could affect future bills. This update aims to make it simpler for users to understand exactly what they’re paying for.
Along with these upgrades, Google Fi is launching a limited-time offer for new customers who already have their own phone. New subscribers can get a 50 percent discount for 15 months on the Unlimited Essentials or Unlimited Standard plans.
